Thank you for a great article. I think people buying followers and likes without knowing what to expect is a big problem. Personally, I’ve found that purchasing followers and likes is the best way to avoid your company being seen as a “failure” on twitter which is important for larger, well known companies.

I’ve helped a few sector-leading organisations get set up on twitter and facebook and they all asked “What will people thing if we only have a handful of followers in 6 months time …”. They all purchased followers and likes from sites like www.socialkudos.co.uk to put their minds at ease. These follows and likes will not have interacted with the companies, but that wasn’t the intention.

Hey,

While I agree on most aspects it honestly depends where you buy Twitter followers. Some companies provide real and even geo-targeted followers so technically you could only buy fellow twitterers in your local area, etc. I used http://www.trafficangels.org for such geo-targeting but Im sure others do it.

Wouldn’t buying twitter followers make others follow you, so why not buy twitter followers from http://www.buytwitterbuddies.com

Technically they are not verifying accounts right now. You basically
need to be a celebrity or know someone on the inside who can do it for
you.

Did you get it on Twitter? I have not heard of it on Facebook, but if you have a Facebook and Twitter account you can check to see if any of your friends have Twitter accounts. Maybe that is how they found you.

I got the “someone is saying nasty things….” from a friend that is not even connected to me on twitter. We are only connected on Facebook. Could this scam be using the FB info as well?
